Motogiro d'Italia 2011

"This year the event, June 6th-11th, will be departing from Bologna, the heart of the land of motors. The event will pass through Cinque Terre, Lunigiana, will stop in Livorno and then go onto Terre Senesi, Garfagnana to finish in Bologna. A riding trip through the provinces of Emilia, Liguria and Tuscany. Yet again Dream Engine2 offers a new itinerary that includes the legendary roads of Italian motor tradition, over five days, every day you can ride 250 kilometres of enjoyable route. Excellent food and comfortable hotels accompany form an integral part of the package. You can enter the event with little Italian vintage bikes, with foreign legendary bikes or follow the event with a modern bike (entry criteria are available on the website for motorcycles); in addition passengers are very welcome on modern bikes. Feel free to bring along your friends and family because a bus will take them along the route with a tailor made itinerary to discover a fantastic part of Italy."

Its one of those events that I think I'll have to enter at sometime, all the reports on it make it sound fantastic.
There are four classes run at the same time, but its the vintage class that appeals to me.
What better than riding a small, up to 175cc and pre 58, bike round some great Italian roads with like minded nutters. Click on the title to their web site

  1. That's weirtd, just did up a comment about this and it wouldn't publish and then I got a note saying the blog doesn't exist. How daft is that!?

Anyway, what I was gonna say was that it sounds like a hoot! There's an Aussie here that does that as well; invites some people to ride around for a week in west Texas the start of October on British singles. Will have to see about getting an invite after getting Vicky or Amelia sorted!

  2. Sorry Bodger my fault, was adding a couple of bits to the post about the same time you were having the problem.

  3. That would explain it Kawa...I was beginning to think sommit was outta wack.

The British Singles Run does sound good. In th epast they'd ride out to Del Rio, on th eborder with Mexico, and spend the night after maaking a trip across the border to eat and an few beers. Then they'd go to other places od interst such as Langtry where Judge Roy Bean (The Hanging Judge) had his court.

At the end, there's a small awards do for survivors.

Will have to pull my finger out on this one. Only thing is that it coincides with the Haggis Run. Me thinks the Haggis will take priority.

  5. If everything works out, next year. Will just come up to Alba with maybe a small trip down south to the Midlands for a day or two.

  6. I've always thought it'd be fun to participate in that,or one of the "clone" events here in the states. That and get a bike to Bonneville and make a few speed runs. A lot of work and expense involved in both endeavors, but what an experience would be had. I'm more likely to make it to Bonneville before I make it to Italy. Hairy Larry
