Old Adverts

Sometimes when looking through old magazines you come across some great adverts from that time, this is one of them, Gene Romero on a Triumph flattracker advertising Pirelli tyres (tires)

  1. There is an old Royal Enfield ad from the sixties I love. They were selling 750's with a spare motor for around 1200 dollars, I believe. I wish I'd been a little older and gone over and picked up a few. Hairy Larry

  2. Larry, you just jogged my memorey about an advert in a local paper years ago, "RE 750 swop for motorcycle 175 to 250", at that time (15yrs old) I had a Honda CB200. I phoned the guy, he can out to see my bike but my Dad wouldn't let me do the deal. That would have been a very nice bike to have, one of the last big RE twins. Still got the CB200.

  3. Give this another try....some of the old ads were pretty good. Have some old issues of Classic Bike and run across ads from the 70s that I remember.

  4. And you've jogged mine...when I was 15 and a half, I had my dad convinced I could handle one of the new 750 Honda's, and besides he'd be able to borrow it. We both being over 6 foot...and my dad being a stout fellow...a 750 would be perfect. Well when mom found out...the compromise was a CL-175 K3. She wanted us to get a 90, but we told here I would need something "freeway-legal" to get to work. Sigh...oh well, the 175 was a fun bike and eventually it went to my brother who bored it out to a 200...which is what the factory eventually did. Yeah, you and I coulda-shoulda had 750's...ha ha ha...HL
