A modern take on a classic looking Cafe Racer.. talking of CB550, I bought one in 1981, a bright orange F1. Still have it down in the basement, although the engine is out of the frame, another job for some day soon....
I had a 71 (?) CB-500 in the the latter part of 70's. Since I was working as a mechanic at a "wreckin' yard" as we call them out west...at the time...it soon had a bunch of "Supersport" upgrades off of 550's and 750's. Metalflake orange tank and sidecover's...sectioned seat off a 750 supersport w/tail section...candy red, never matched the paint...somehow it looked alright with the custom plexi taillamp I fashioned in my mom's oven...license plate for a rear fender. And the finishing touch, a chrome Hooker Header 4 into one, with beautiful megaphone. I always regretted parting with it. So when the 550 came along for 200 dollars, nostalgia struck again. Just like my old 175. I picked up one of those for free, and bought about 4 or 5 engines for 50 dollars...some day soon...
Thump, thump...yeah that is very nice looking. I'd like my CB-550 to look as spartan as that bike. Hairy Larry
